Ok, I will admit that I have never made homemade play dough until the other day… I am hitting myself as it was soooo easy to make and it does not seem to dry out like regular play-dough. It is awesome. I thought I would share the great recipe I used as well as a free play-dough mat for you to use with your play-dough.
Here is the recipe.
Ingredients— 1 cup all purpose flour, 1/2 cup salt, 2 tsp. cream of tartar,
1 tbsp. ground cinnamon, 2 tsp. ground ginger, 1 tsp. ground nutmeg,
1 tsp. ground cloves, 2 tbsp. vegetable oil, 1 cup water
Instructions—In a medium saucepan whisk together dry ingredients.
Next mix in the water, oil, and stir
until a thick batter is formed. Cook the mixture over
low/medium heat until a thick dough forms.
Turn out onto parchment paper and knead until smooth.
Makes about 2 cups of dough.
TA -DA! Below are pictures of my finished play-dough (I tripled the recipe)! It smells so good and feels so nice. No more store bought play-dough for me. The picture below includes the mats found in our new Gingerbread Packet Here! Scroll down for a free mat!
This also makes a great winter gift for your students or for your child to give to classmates. I created a poem gift tag that is in this packet that you can attach to some dough. The tag includes a poem I wrote and the ingredients to make some more dough at home.
Now that you want the packet – right??? or maybe you already have it!!! Here’s a new free mat for you to download and use with the dough! Make sure you laminate after you print it!
