Anyone back in school today after Winter Break?  Did you use our Free New Years ideas to get the year started right?  Here are some more ideas for a holiday that is in a few days.  Martin Luther King Day!!!   I have two free printables for you to download in this post.  Both are samples from our Jan.-June Primary Teacher Timesaver CDROM.  You can learn more about the CDROm here and you get many free ideas about MLK here at our theme page

This is the beginning of our “high holidays”: MLK, Chinese New Year, Valentines. In their own ways each is about love, the most important thing to celebrate!  I’d urge everyone to play a recording of MLK speaking to their kids. I’ve done it for the last few years and am amazed at how it focuses the kids. They sit quietly and listen like no body’s business. This year, they started spontaneously applauding along with the recorded audience. When I turned it off because I thought they’d had enough, they asked me to turn it back on. This has happened two years in a row. It’s really quite powerful.”
