Just a hodge podge of what Thanksgiving fun we had in my second grade class!
Through our Benchmark Literacy program we discuss how good readers visualize while they read. Authors write in hopes that their readers will read their words and create a picture in their head. My students visualized about their Thanksgiving Day and wrote down their descriptions of what they would see, feel, hear, smell, and touch. Then they added pictures of what they visualized to the openings on their homes. They turned out so cute!
We decorated turkey masks from Oriental Trading. I took each students picture in their masks. The pictures are displayed in the hall for parents to try and find their turkey when they come from parent conferences.
Our Thankful Turkey. Simply added what they were Thankful for to the wings.
We just finished Chapter 4 in Go Math. It was a unit on regrouping. I created a few centers to review the concepts. I will someday get the printables on the blog. This one above is a pocket chart center.
This is a cooked turkey game that was a huge hit with the class.
This is a fact mastery review game.
Our disguise a turkey project went well.
Our math craftivity. This is free and already on the blog.
