Just a hodge podge of what Thanksgiving fun we had in my second grade class!  Through our Benchmark Literacy program we discuss how good readers visualize while they read.  Authors write in hopes that their readers will read their words and create a picture in their head.  My students visualized about their Thanksgiving Day and wrote down their descriptions of what they would see, feel, hear, smell, and touch.  Then they added pictures of what they visualized to the openings on their homes.  They turned out so...

Thanksgivingregrouping

My second grade class is in the middle of an addition unit.  We have learned lots of strategies to solve two-digit addition problems.  I wanted to do a “fun” activity during our math lesson when we learned the standard algorithm for solving addition problems.   As a result, I came up with this craft that goes along with the poem we learned in class…  Less than nine everything is five.  Ten or more, move the tens next store.  Here is the final product.Check – got a Thanksgiving craft covered that goes along...

I cannot believe how close the Holidays are…  Do I say that every year???  Here is a great activity for Novemeber.  Love me some Glyphs!!!  Here are pictures  of the Teaching Heart Thanksgiving Plate Glyph Activities –  (The picture above is the glyph key). First the students answer questions about Thanksgiving in their family. Then they color and cut the glyph based on their answers. After the glyphs are done I suggest you display them along with the key. Once displayed, the the board can become another fun learning activity....

Cornucopia Dice GAme - Free to Print!

Happy Sunday Night!  Had some time to create a new free printable that I hope some of you can use this week or next week!  It’s a cornucopia dice game.  Dice is included on page two.  Just print on cardstock and tape together. To play:  Groups of 2-4 students (after they have colored and cut page 3) take turns rolling the dice and adding a piece to their cornucopia.  First person to fill it is the winner!  Then everyone can glue the items in and take home! Turkey Verbs

It’s been a bit since I have shared a NEW and FREE printable!  Today is the day!!!  Here’s a fun verb lesson for October.  Three free printables for you to download!Use the above cards to act out the verbs with your class! Then have your students cut out the words and glue the verbs next to the verb turkey.
