Measurement garden craft!

I took down the snowflakes and snowmen this week because this second grade teacher is done with winter!!!  Our math garden in the back of the classroom is so refreshing!!!  You can have one too!  You can download the printables to this craft on TPT by clicking here!

How does our garden measure up craftivity

-I had my second grade students complete this as a math center.   I can imagine it would work well in first and third grade as well.   You can see how I set up the center in the packet. Once the students have the craft put together they measure their two flowers (everyone’s flower length with be different) and record it on their pots. They also are required to find the difference of the two flowers. They loved completing this craft as part of our unit on measurement. I loved that it was easy enough to set-up as an independent center once I explained the craft. Finally, I displayed the craft under a banner that read… How does our garden measure up?   The banner is not included in the set. There are three surprise bonus measurement printables included in this set.

I love how they turned out!

Above shows you how lovely and bright your class will be once you have your garden all hung up. Below you will see how I set up the center. Student each collected their pot (pre cut on construction paper), their leaves, A and B, 2 different stems, 2 different flowers, and their background sheet. They took all materials to their seat. I instructed them to color their pieces. Then, cut their pieces. Next, glue together. Finally, measure and write on their pot.  Ta-da… instant color in my classroom that is related to measurement and guess what, we will be doing soil in science in a few days.  Double educational value!
