Here is an easy way to create a type of mailbox for students to use on Valentine’s Day. Have each student design a LOVE CRITTER baggie!!! All you need to supply is a gift bag and the printables in this set. I set it up as a rotation during the week of Valentine’s Day. I use it as a center during literacy center rotations (There is writing involved!).

Basically print the patterns. The only pattern I printed on different colored paper, was the body. The rest of the patterns, I printed on white paper. As you can see from the picture, I laid each part on it’s own section of the table. They choose a piece from each section of paper (a body, eyes, mouth, arms, legs, and a heart). They take their pieces back to their seat and begin. We color the pieces. Then we cut and glue our monster together. Lastly we create the writing part of our monster. This is found on page 14 of this document. I had this already glue to the bags. I tell the kiddos that they do not need to open their bags while they make their critters. This makes it easier to create and store when they are done.
Once we are done we share our Critter with our classmates. They love reading what they wrote about their Critter and introducing the Critter to their classmates!
